FAQ

Good to know before you come.

The short version: yes, you can come alone. Yes, beginners are welcome. And yes, the room is built for first conversations.

How does it work?

Take your language stickers, put your native language on top, add the languages you are learning below, and use the flags to start conversations. A simple “Hi, what languages do you speak?” is enough.

I am shy. Can I come alone?

Yes. Many guests arrive solo. If you want help getting started, say hello to a host at the door and we will help you find an easy first conversation.

Is this event for me?

Come if you want new friends, real conversations, and a relaxed way to practice languages. Locals, internationals, newcomers, students, professionals, and travellers are all welcome.

How much does it cost?

The regular city events are usually €6, including one drink and your language stickers. Special events may have different ticket options.

Is this a dating event?

No. Social Melting Pot is built for language exchange and community. Be kind, respectful, and open-minded. If anything feels uncomfortable, please speak to a host.

I only speak one language. Can I join?

Yes. Beginners are welcome. You can listen, learn, and gradually join in. You do not need to be fluent to be part of the room.

When is the next meeting?

We run events weekly across our cities. The city pages are the safest place to check the current weekday, venue, and next date.

Is there an online group?

Yes. We are mainly an offline community, but each city also has online groups where people introduce themselves, ask questions, and stay updated.

What if I prefer a quieter start?

Arrive early and ask a host for a calmer corner. The first part of the evening is usually the easiest moment to settle in and meet people before the room gets busier.

How many people come?

It depends on the city and date, but the community is active every week. The best way to understand the vibe is to come once and experience it for yourself.
