Community values

Everyone should feel welcome here.

Social Melting Pot is a language exchange and international meetup built on respect, consent, and care. We all share the room, so we all help keep it friendly.

The room we protect

A few simple values make the whole night easier.

These guidelines apply at every Social Melting Pot event, in every city, and in every online group connected to the community.

01

Respect boundaries

Consent matters. Ask before touching, flirting, taking photos, joining private conversations, or pushing a topic further.

02

No discrimination

Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, ageism, religious hate, and harassment are not welcome here.

03

Be kind in conversation

People arrive with different languages, confidence levels, cultures, and stories. Curiosity is welcome; pressure is not.

04

Look out for each other

If someone seems uncomfortable, give them space, check in gently, or find a host. You never have to handle it alone.

Respectful interaction

Good energy is something we build together.

Most people come to Social Melting Pot to meet new people, practice languages, and feel part of a friendly room. The easiest way to help is simple: be warm, be clear, and let people choose their own pace.

Ask, do not assume

A friendly “Can I join you?” or “Would you like to practice?” keeps the room relaxed.

Accept no immediately

No explanations are required. If someone declines, smiles less, steps away, or changes topic, respect it.

Keep it inclusive

Use language that makes people feel safe, not singled out. Jokes that target a group are not part of the vibe.

Help early

Speak to a host as soon as something feels uncomfortable. You do not need to wait until it becomes serious.
