Weekly socials across Germany

Here’s what happens on your first night.

Many guests come alone. The flags make the first hello easy.

Step by step

  1. Arrive

    Doors open at 19:00.

It’s easiest between 19:30 and 20:30, before it gets busy.

  4. Say hello

Find a matching flag and ask one easy question.

    Three that always work:

    • “Which language are you practising tonight?”
    • “I see German on your flag. Want to practise?”
    • “Where did you learn Spanish?”
  5. Stay

Stay as long as you like.

    Until 00:00.

FAQ

Good to know before you come.

Is it OK to come alone as a woman?

Yes. The night is open to everyone, and someone from the awareness team, with a TEAM flag, is there every night.

Can I bring friends?

Yes, bring them. You’ll meet more people if you split up for a while.

Do I need to register?

No. Just show up. There’s no dress code either. Come as you are.

Do I need perfect English or German?

No. Whatever language you speak is enough.

Is it only for internationals?

No. Locals, internationals, newcomers, students and German learners are all welcome.

How old are the guests?

Most guests are in their 20s and 30s, and many are outside that range. Everyone is welcome.

I don’t drink. Is that OK?

Yes. The first drink on your Boarding Card can be alcohol-free.

How many people come?

Usually 100–150 people a night, in each city.

Is this a dating event?

No. It’s a social night, not a singles night.

Will I be in photos?

You might be. We take photos and short videos at every night, and a sign at the entrance says so. They go on our website, Instagram and newsletter.

Rather not be in them? Tell anyone from the event team and the photographer will keep you out of the frame. Want one taken down? Email info@socialmeltingpot.com and it’s gone within 48 hours. More in our privacy policy, section 8.

Where can I follow along?

On Instagram (@socialmeltingpot) and on Meetup: one group for Cologne, Düsseldorf and Bonn, one for Hamburg. For the next dates and Special Edition news by email, sign up here.

Show up alone. Leave with friends.
