Melting Pot is the main reason I have friends in Cologne at all. I started coming at the end of July 2023 knowing barely anyone. Over 9 months I made amazing friends from all over the world.
New to Cologne and without friends? That was me too. Then I came to Melting Pot and now I have many friends here. One girl I met there is now my best friend in Cologne.
Very safe for people who come alone too. The people are very welcoming and you quickly feel included in lots of conversations!
You get sticker flags you can put on your chest which say what languages you speak. Works as a great ice breaker when approaching people you don’t know.

Every Thursday from 19:00 to 00:00 at °Plato Beer & BBQ, Weberstraße 37, Bonn.
Do I need perfect English or German?
No. Whatever language you speak is enough.
Many guests speak several languages, and many are learning German too.
Is this a dating event?
No. It is a social night for open-minded people.
The language flags simply make it easier to meet people and start conversations.
What is the best time to arrive?
For the best experience, arrive between 19:30 and 20:30.
That’s when it is easiest to meet people before it gets too busy.
Is it only for internationals?
No. Locals, internationals, expats, students, travellers and German learners are all welcome. Come for 30 minutes if you’re unsure — no pressure.
What do the language flags mean?
Your top flag shows your native language. The others show languages you speak or want to practise, so people know how to start talking to you.
